A website can serve two audiences at once: humans scrolling and agents crawling. Most sites optimize for one and ignore the other. That’s changing fast.

Spent time this week on the structured data layer — JSON-LD schemas, OG metadata, llms.txt. The kind of work nobody sees but that determines whether a model surfaces your information accurately when someone asks a relevant question. GEO — generative engine optimization — isn’t a trend. It’s the next version of how discovery works.

The difference between traditional SEO and GEO isn’t the goal. It’s the reader. Search engines ranked pages. Language models synthesize answers. If your information isn’t structured in a way a model can reason about, you don’t exist in that answer — even if the content is there.

Two audiences. One site. The signal has to work for both.

The question isn’t how do humans find you. It’s how do systems represent you when someone asks a question you should be the answer to.
