The Part After the Install

DISPATCH  ·  LOGGED WITH MAI

InstaLILY raised $60 million this week for a product that does one thing most AI companies won’t: it stays. Their AI embeds inside a business, builds custom software around real workflows, and keeps running as the business changes. Not a chatbot. Not a model. An operations layer that absorbs drift.

One distributor found $200 million in annual revenue their sales team couldn’t cover by hand. A field service company cut diagnostic time from 15 minutes to 10 seconds. None of those results came from a better model. They came from software that was built around how each business actually works, deployed in days, and maintained continuously.

The number that matters isn’t the fundraise. It’s Gartner’s finding that 85 percent of enterprises pursuing agentic AI aren’t ready for production. BCG says 60 percent of companies report little material return despite real spending. The gap between the 5 percent pulling outsized value and everyone else isn’t the technology. It’s whether someone owns the system after the builder leaves.

Ask who’s responsible for your AI six months from now. Not who approved the budget. Not who ran the pilot. Who keeps it connected when the data changes, the models update, and the business shifts underneath. If the answer is nobody, the demo was the deliverable.
