The Tools Already Speak

DISPATCH  ·  LOGGED WITH MAI

Adobe, Blender, Unreal Engine, Houdini, Canva’s Affinity suite, Boris FX Silhouette. Six platforms announced MCP server support at SIGGRAPH last week. Same protocol. Same week. Almost nobody in creative operations noticed.

MCP lets an AI agent open your project, read the file tree, build nodes, edit keyframes, render output. Not a chatbot sidebar. Not a prompt-to-image trick. An agent working inside the production environment on the same files your team touches every day.

A year ago delegation meant briefing a junior designer. Now it also means briefing an agent that runs overnight inside Blender and delivers a first pass by morning. The creative director still makes the calls. The agent absorbs the structural work that eats half the production week — resizing, template generation, scene setup, format variations.

Most teams will treat this as a settings update. They will read the changelog, note the new toggle, and move on. The ones paying attention will pick one repeatable workflow, connect an agent, and run it once this week.

The tools did not wait for permission. They already speak the protocol. The gap now is between teams that noticed and teams that did not.
