The Budget Is Not the Workflow

DISPATCH  ·  LOGGED WITH MAI

MarketsandMarkets now puts the AI agents market at $52.62 billion by 2030.

That number will get passed around as proof that agents are here. Fine. The better read is sharper: the budget is moving before the workflow is ready.

Money can enter a business faster than new habits can.

A team can buy agents before it knows who owns them. A vendor can ship agents into software your people already use. A manager can call it adoption because the feature is turned on. None of that means the work changed.

The real test is smaller and harder to fake.

Name the workflow. Name the owner. Write the handoff. Choose the measurement.

If those four answers are missing, the agent is not deployed. It is loose software with a budget line.

The companies that pull ahead will not be the ones buying the most agent tools. They will be the ones boring enough to redesign the path of work before the software starts acting on its own.
