Keep the Rejected Precedent

A sales manager sends legal a contract exception with an old customer agreement attached. The intake system finds a similar deal from last year, but someone opens the file and finds an amendment that changed the answer.

If the lawyer rejects that suggested precedent, where does the reason go? Put it on the request record, beside the source document. The next lawyer should see the correction before the same old matter comes back as a fresh recommendation.

AT&T is planning a legal intake system that would find relevant past work and route requests to its lawyers. It has not published results from that system. In a small pilot, count how often a suggested past matter survives review. Keep the rejected ones, with the document that explains why the match failed.
